About the Profession

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession focused on improving movement, reducing pain, and helping people stay as strong, mobile, and independent as possible. It can support recovery, function, balance, mobility, and confidence in everyday life.

Our community physiotherapists work with you to help you reach your personal goals and maintain them. This may include standing and walking more safely, moving around your home or community, improving strength and function, and managing daily activities such as dressing, showering, cleaning, getting out and about, and enjoying the things you love.

Conditions We Treat

What conditions do Physiotherapists help with?

Our physiotherapists support older adults living in residential aged care to stay as safe, strong, mobile, and independent as possible.

Fuller Life Australia partners with a number of residential aged care facilities to provide in-house physiotherapy that helps reduce falls risk, improve balance and movement, prevent physical deconditioning, and support residents' comfort, function, and quality of life.

We deliver personalised short- and long-term therapy plans tailored to each resident's needs, goals, and care environment.

This may include support with walking, transfers, strength and reconditioning, pain management, recovery after illness or hospitalisation, mobility changes, and practical strategies to support safer manual handling and high-quality care within the facility.

We also provide support to staff through manual handling education and training to help promote safer care practices and reduce risk during everyday resident support.

Our physiotherapists commonly support residents experiencing:

  • Falls and recurrent falls
  • Balance difficulties and unsteadiness
  • Frailty and reduced physical conditioning
  • Arthritis and joint pain
  • Osteoporosis
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Stroke and stroke recovery
  • Dementia-related mobility changes
  • Reduced strength and endurance
  • Chronic or persistent pain
  • Mobility decline
  • Reduced confidence with walking
  • Difficulty with transfers, including getting in and out of bed or chairs
  • Functional decline following illness or hospitalisation
  • Post-operative recovery and reconditioning
  • Difficulty managing everyday activities safely within residential aged care

If Fuller Life Australia is not yet providing services within the facility you are enquiring about, we would be pleased to discuss how we may be able to support through visits to the facility.

Access & Funding

How do I get Physiotherapy?

There are many ways to access Physiotherapy — you don't always need a GP referral. If you'd like to know more about your specific situation, get in touch with us today.

  • NDIS

NDIS Participants who are plan or self-managed can contact us directly or ask their NDIS plan manager to send us a referral.

  • Support at Home (My Aged Care)

Older adults may be able to access physiotherapy through My Aged Care and the Support at Home program following assessment and approval. If you already have a home care package / Support at Home funding, you can request to see us at anytime via your home care provider.

  • Medicare

Some clients may be eligible for physiotherapy through a GP management plan, with a referral arranged by their doctor. As our services are community-based, there will be a gap to cover the session and travel included.

  • Private Health

You can book privately with us directly, with no GP referral required in most cases.

  • Other Funding

Workcover, DVA and other funding options are welcome at Fuller Life Australia following confirmation from our team.

Funding & Support

Aged Care

Fuller Life Australia provides mobile allied health services to older adults living in residential aged care. We work with residents, families, facility staff, and care teams to provide assessment, therapy, and practical recommendations that support safety, comfort, mobility, function, and quality of life.

What is Aged Care funding?

Aged care funding is Australian Government funding that helps eligible older people access care and support services. In residential aged care, this funding helps aged care homes provide accommodation, daily living support, clinical care, and other services based on each resident's assessed needs. Residential aged care funding is separate from the Support at Home program, which is for people living in their own homes.

Who can get funding?

  • are 65 years or older
  • are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person aged 50 years or older
  • or are 50 years or older and homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • have care needs that mean you can no longer manage safely or independently at home
  • complete an aged care assessment through My Aged Care
  • are assessed as needing residential aged care rather than home-based support

How Fuller Life helps

  • Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and psychology within residential aged care
  • Assessment and therapy to support mobility, strength, balance, function, and wellbeing
  • Short-term or ongoing allied health support based on each resident's needs and goals
  • Falls prevention, reconditioning, and recovery after illness or hospitalisation
  • Seating, positioning, comfort, and support with everyday function
  • Manual handling guidance and practical strategies to support safer care
  • Working closely with residents, families, staff, and care teams
  • Clear recommendations and communication to support ongoing care planning

Access to allied health services in residential aged care may depend on the facility's arrangements, the resident's needs, and the funding pathway available, such as private services, facility arrangements, or other eligible supports.
